Pune: Surveyor Rohan Kadu win Iron Man award at international contest in Barcelona

PUNE / PAUD (Mulshi taluka): Rohan Sitaram Kadu, a surveyor working in the Land Records Department, won the Iron Man award in the international competition held in Barcelona. He completed the competition comprising three sports i.e. swimming, cycling and running in 14 hours and 29 minutes. Rohan Kadu took part in an international event for the first time and he is the first Iron Man from the Land Records Department.

Kadu, who hails from Khed taluka in Pune district, stays in Kothrud with his family. He has represented Maharashtra in the All India Civil Services in badminton. From the beginning, he was fond of swimming, running and cycling and he had won the Bergman contest held at Kolhapur, Dimbhe. He had been preparing for the Iron Man contest since four months. He was practicing in his spare time apart from doing his job.

Two thousand six hundred sportspersons had taken part in the contest in Barcelona. The maximum time given for completing the contest was 16 hours. Rohan completed 3.8 km swimming in 1 hour 41 minutes and 49 seconds, rode a cycle for 180 km in 6 hours, 54 minutes and 53 seconds and ran for 42.2 km in 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Since he completed all the events one and a half hour before the deadline, he was bestowed with the Iron Man award.

The Jamabandi Commissioner of Land Records Department Niranjan Sudhanshu, Addl Jamabandi Commissioner Anand Rayte, Deputy Director Anil Mane, District Superintendent Suryakant More, Deputy Superintendent of Mulshi Pratap Chowdhary felicitated Kadu. He gave the credit for his success to his parents and officials of the Land Records Department.
