Pune Student Clinches Gold Medal for India at International Physics Olympiad 2023

une, 18th July 2023: India has achieved a remarkable feat at the 53rd International Physics Olympiad 2023, with five students, including one from Pune, making the country proud by winning three gold and two silver medals. The talented participants showcased their exceptional knowledge and skills at the prestigious Olympiad held in Tokyo, Japan, and brought honor to India.

Dhruv Shah, a student from Pune, emerged as a shining star by securing the gold medal for India. Alongside Dhruv, Aditya from Delhi and Mehul Borad from Kachiguda, Telangana also secured gold medals, contributing to India’s success at the Olympiad. Raghav Goyal from Chandigarh and Rhythm Kedia from Raipur, Chhattisgarh received well-deserved silver medals for their outstanding performance.

The Indian team, led by Professor Arun V Kulkarni from BITS Pilani, Goa, and Professor Shirish Pathare from HBCSE, TIFR, displayed exemplary guidance and support throughout the competition. Their mentorship and dedication played a crucial role in shaping the students’ knowledge and skills, leading them to victory.

The International Physics Olympiad, held from July 10 to 17 at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Center in Tokyo, witnessed participation from 84 countries. The competition provided a platform for talented young minds to showcase their proficiency in physics and foster cross-cultural interactions among aspiring physicists from around the world.
