Pune: State Housing Minister Announces Price Reduction For Vacant MHADA Houses Amidst High Maintenance Of Vacant Flats

Pune: In a significant development for prospective homeowners and the homeless people, Housing Minister Atul Save declared yesterday that the prices of vacant houses in MHADA’s lottery will witness a downward adjustment. The long-anticipated announcement brings clarity to speculations circulating for several days regarding the potential decrease in housing prices.

Minister Save emphasised that if the current sales strategy is executed successfully, the prices of unoccupied houses from the lottery will see a noticeable reduction. He assured the public that the government is committed to reviewing house prices and will make informed decisions in the best interest of the citizens.

According to available reports, nearly eleven thousand houses across the state are expected to undergo price cuts, with a significant concentration in the Pune division. Minister Save explained that this decision is prompted by MHADA’s need to cover substantial expenses such as electricity and water bills, drawing from the state coffers. The move aligns with the government’s long-standing goal of minimising public losses and boosting state revenue.

Meanwhile, the Pune Housing Area Development Authority has postponed the draw of lots for flats in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, Kolhapur, Solapur, and Sangli. This decision, affecting around 5863 flats under various housing schemes, was attributed to administrative reasons, as communicated by MHADA in its latest circular. The draw, initially scheduled for Friday, is now pending further updates, which will be promptly conveyed to the applicants.

The breakdown of available flats in the draw includes 5425 in Pune district, 69 in Solapur, 32 in Sangli, and 337 in Kolhapur district. Additionally, there are 403 flats in the MHADA housing scheme, 431 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (Urban), 2584 under the 20 percent Comprehensive Housing Scheme, and 2445 under the first priority scheme.
