Daund: A tragic accident unfolded on the Pune Solapur National Highway when a luxury travels bus, en route from Latur to Pune, collided with a stationary cement transport truck at Patus Ghat in Daund taluka of Pune district. This devastating incident resulted in the loss of two lives and left several passengers with varying degrees of injuries.
Fatal Collision:
The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, leading to the overturning of the bus. The impact was severe, with the left side of the bus bearing the brunt of the collision. Tragically, two female passengers lost their lives at the scene, and another individual sustained serious injuries. Additionally, around thirty passengers suffered injuries of different severities in the traumatic incident.
Swift Response:
Local law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, with the efforts of Police Inspector Hemant Shedge of Yawat Police Station, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Nagargoje of Patas Police Station, Sub-Inspector of Highway Police Mahesh Kondubhaire, and Srihari Pansare. With the assistance of concerned citizens, injured passengers were safely evacuated from the bus and transported to medical facilities for treatment.
Traffic Disruption:
The accident left the highway covered in cement spillage from the overturned truck, resulting in a disruption in traffic flow. Authorities had to reroute traffic through alternative routes to manage the situation.
Ongoing Investigation:
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and those with serious injuries have been transferred to Sassoon Hospital for specialized medical care.
