Shivajinagar, October 22, 2023: Pune residents witnessed a shocking incident today as a PMPML bus driver, under the influence of alcohol, plowed into 15 vehicles, leaving several individuals injured.
This morning, chaos unfolded on Senapati Bapati Road near Vetal Baba Chowk when a PMPML bus from the Kothrud depot, driven by Nilesh Sawant, embarked on a reckless journey toward Ratna Hospital. The horrifying series of events began with a collision between the bus and a passenger car. An argument ensued between the car owner and Sawant, further enraging the intoxicated bus driver. In a stunning display of recklessness, Sawant reversed the bus and careened through the junction, inciting panic among the passengers. Distressed passengers promptly notified the police, leading to the swift arrest of Sawant. The Chathushring police station registered a case against him, and the PMPML management promptly suspended him.
Regrettably, this calamitous incident left several individuals, both passengers and drivers, injured.
