Pune: A 19-year-old girl from the Somwar Peth area filed a complaint against a husband and wife for sexually assaulting and threatening her to make her obscene photos viral at Samarth Police Station yesterday. This incident has been happening since 2016. In this regard, the police registered a case against both accused.
The accused couple are identified as Siju Sameer Shaikh (26) and Sofiana Siju Shaikh (25). The accused, Siju Shaikh, is acquainted with the victim since she was a minor, and the couple is staying at the victim’s house on rent.
According to the complaint, the accused once recorded obscene images and videos of the girl on his mobile phone. Since then, he has repeatedly abused her and sexually assaulted her, threatening to make her photos viral. He then raped the victim girl in her house and in the lodge near Katraj.
The accused, Siju Shaikh, also threatened the victim’s father to abduct his daughter on call. Shockingly, Siju Shaikh’s wife, Sofiana, also supported her husband in this heinous act and threatened the victim’s father with killing her if they reported this incident to anyone.
As soon as the victim girl filed a complaint, the police immediately registered a case against the accused under IPC 376/2/N, 377, 323, 504s 506, POCSO Act Sections 8 and 12, and the IT Act. Further investigation is being conducted by Senior Police Inspector Suraj Bandgar.
