Pune: Seven new police stations to be set up in the city; Police personnel will be recruited on contract basis

PUNE: Seven new police stations will be set up in the city and when the shortage of police personnel is being felt at present, new police stations will create more shortage. Hence, on the lines of Mumbai Police Commissionerate, a proposal of recruiting police personnel from the Maharashtra State Security Corporation on contract basis, is going to be sent to the state government.

There is a shortage of 3,000 police personnel in the Mumbai Police Commissionerate. After the process of recruitment and training is completed, it will take two years for them to join the police department. Hence, the state government has given permission to recruit 3,000 police personnel from the Maharashtra State Security Corporation. An order has been issued to the effect and the tenure of these police personnel will be 11 months.

Pune Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar said on the lines of Mumbai Police Commissionerate getting manpower, a study will be made about the proposal sent by the commissionerate to the government. Seven new police stations will be set up in Pune soon and new manpower will be required. Considering this, a proposal on the lines of the one sent by the Mumbai Police Commissionerate will be sent to the state government.

A few days ago, a young girl was assaulted with a sickle. At that time, no police personnel were available at the Perugate police chowki. The issue of inadequate number of police personnel had come to the fore. There are 7,000 police personnel and 800 police personnel have been recently recruited. They are being trained at present.
