The Pune City Police have taken action against seven individuals who posted objectionable comments on social media platforms against Rupali Chakankar, the chairperson of the Maharashtra State Women Commission and the state president of the NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction’s women’s wing. The accused made these comments during a YouTube live stream of Supriya Sule’s speech in Yeola, Nashik, as well as during a Facebook live stream conducted by Rupali Chakankar herself from her official page.
The objectionable comments were posted on both platforms, prompting Chakankar’s Public Relations Officer, who also manages her social media accounts, to file a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Pune.
The police have registered a case against the seven unidentified individuals under sections 354 (a) and 509 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with section 67 of the Information Technology Act. The investigation into the matter is currently underway.
