Pune: Senior Police Officer Cheated Out of Rs 1.55 Crore in Investment Scheme

In a distressing turn of events, a retired senior police officer in Pune has become the victim of a significant financial scam, losing a staggering sum of Rs 1.55 crore. The Chatushringi police have swung into action, registering a case against five individuals embroiled in this fraudulent scheme.

The accused parties involved in this disheartening incident have been identified as Rajesh Vasantrao Karande (75 years old), Lina Rajesh Karande, Aparna Nilesh Karande, and Lata Vasantrao Karande, all residents of Shivajinagar. While the retired senior police officer’s identity has been kept confidential, they took the bold step of filing a formal complaint with the Chatushringi police station, setting the wheels of justice in motion.

According to the police report, the retired police officer was enticed into investing in the Kas Footwear Private Limited Company six years ago by the accused individuals. Over the course of those years, the complainant officer transferred a staggering total of Rs 1.55 crore to the accused as part of the investment scheme. The accused had even gone as far as issuing share certificates in the company’s name and formally entering into an agreement with the victim. However, in a shocking breach of trust, the accused parties reneged on their commitment, leading to the substantial financial loss incurred by the retired police officer.

Assistant Police Inspector Jankar is currently leading the investigation into this case. The authorities are unwavering in their commitment to apprehend the culprits responsible for this financial deception and to take steps toward recovering the defrauded funds.
