Pune: A scammer, pretending to be an Army officer cheated a woman of Rs 3, 69,527 on the pretext of taking a flat on rent.

A 33-year-old woman has complained to Vishrantwadi police station in this case. The incident took place between 14 and 16 May 2023.

According to the information given by the police, the complainant was about to give her flat on rent. One person contacted them on her mobile number. He said that he is in the army and wants to rent a flat. He earned the trust of the complainant by sending a small amount to her Google Pay account. However, after obtaining information about the complainant’s bank account, he withdrew Rs. 3, 69,527 from her account and cheated the complainant.

Police Inspector Dhawle is investigating the case.
