PUNE: The bus stop opposite Deccan College at Yerawada collapsed on Saturday morning. One of the reasons why this mishap may have happened is the iron used in the bus stop had rusted.
There was no loss of life in this incident but this is a very serious issue and highlights the incompetence of the civic administration. The road is very crowded all the time but since the incident happened early in the morning, there was no one on the road.
Muzaffar Inamdar said, “Since there was nobody on the road in the morning when the bus stop collapsed, there was no loss of life. If this mishap had happened during the rush hours, it could have led to loss of lives. The civic administration should periodically carry out checks of all bus stops.”
