Pune Rural Police Gears Up for the Second Phase of Fort Swachhta Abhiyan on January 20

Lonavala : In a commendable initiative led by Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Mitesh Ghatte, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sathya Sai Karthik, the Pune Rural Police Force is set to launch the second phase of the Fort Swachhta Abhiyan on January 20, 2024. Building on the success of the initial phase that commenced in April 2023, this campaign aims to continue fostering community engagement and cleanliness across historical landmarks in the Pune district.

The inaugural phase of the Fort Swachhta Abhiyan kicked off on April 26, 2023, with the cleaning of the Ekvira Fort and Buddhist Caves at Karla, Maval Pune District. A diverse group of participants, including police officers, enforcers, college students, NCC cadets, officials from charitable organizations, villagers, lawyers, journalists, and citizens actively participated in the clean-up efforts. Notable tourist spots like Lohgad Fort, Tiger Point, Bhushi Dam, and Tikona Fort in Lonavala were also addressed during this campaign, resulting in the responsible collection of 12 tonnes of waste, which was handed over to the waste processing centre of Lonavala Municipal Council.

The second phase, scheduled to commence on January 20, 2024, at 6:30 AM, will see two groups of volunteers spearheading cleaning initiatives at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk and the Indrayani river bed near Shiv Somnath Mandir. The Pune Rural Police extend an invitation to all citizens to actively participate in this Swachhata Abhiyan, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness and awareness.

Post-Campaign Initiatives:

Following the Swachhata Abhiyan, attendees will be guided on various important topics, including de-addiction, cyber security, women’s safety, and traffic regulation. Street plays and expert-led discussions will be utilized to disseminate crucial information and promote awareness within the community.

The Pune Rural Police express optimism about the continued success of the Fort Swachhta Abhiyan, underscoring the significance of community involvement in maintaining a clean and aware society.
