Pune RTO’s Strict Directive: No Helmet, No Entry for Employees

Pune’s Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued a stringent directive to both government offices and private companies within the city and district, mandating the enforcement of the helmet rule. The directive firmly states that employees without helmets should not be allowed entry, and any failure to comply will result in disciplinary actions against the respective administrations.

The RTO’s notice has been sent to a total of 1,777 establishments, encompassing both government and private entities throughout the city and district. As a result, the wearing of helmets has now become mandatory for all employees within these establishments. This move follows a comprehensive study conducted by the RTO over the past two years, which delved into accidents within Pune city and district. The study revealed a significant number of accidents involving two-wheeler riders and pillion riders not wearing helmets, resulting in tragic and fatal outcomes. In response to these findings, the RTO has resolved to implement strict measures.

According to RTO officials, previous instructions were given to these establishments, urging them not to permit entry to employees without helmets. However, these instructions were not adhered to by the administrations, prompting the RTO to initiate more stringent enforcement measures.

To enforce the helmet rule, RTO officials have begun taking action against individuals entering these establishments without helmets, utilizing CCTV cameras installed at entrances. In fact, disciplinary actions have already been taken against 104 employees who were found entering IT companies and multinational firms without helmets. Officials have warned that if employees are caught entering these establishments without helmets, the respective establishments will be held accountable and may face legal consequences.

This proactive stance by the Pune RTO underscores the importance of safety on the roads and serves as a reminder that adherence to traffic regulations, such as wearing helmets, is crucial to preventing accidents and safeguarding lives.
