Pune RTO Introduces New 4-Wheeler Registration Series: Application Process Explained

In an effort to streamline the vehicle registration process and cater to the preferences of vehicle owners, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Pune is set to launch a fresh registration series for four-wheelers. The new series aims to provide vehicle owners with the opportunity to secure specific registration numbers for their newly acquired four-wheelers. The RTO has outlined a systematic procedure for interested individuals to apply for these preferred registration numbers.

Applicants looking to obtain a specific registration number for their four-wheelers can do so by participating in an auction conducted by the RTO. Here’s how the process works:

  1. Application Submission: Those interested in participating in the auction must submit their applications at the new vehicle registration section of the RTO office. The application submission window for this purpose is scheduled for August 21, running from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
  2. Required Documents: Applicants are required to furnish certain documents along with their application. These include a demand draft (DD) drawn in favor of ‘Pune R.T.O’ from a nationalized bank, proof of address, identity card, Aadhaar card, attested copy of PAN card, and a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Additionally, applicants need to provide a photo ID and proof of address, such as a telephone bill.
  3. Auction Participation: Successful applicants will need to submit a single DD for auction. This DD should be of a higher amount and must be enclosed in a sealed envelope. The sealed envelope containing the DD must be deposited at the RTO office by 3 PM on August 22.
  4. Auction Process: The sealed envelopes will be opened in the presence of the applicants. The highest bidder for the preferred registration number will be awarded the rights to that number.
  5. Multiple Applications: In case multiple applications are received for the same registration number, a list of applicants will be posted on the RTO office notice board after 4 PM on August 22.
  6. Reservation Conditions: Once a registration number is successfully reserved through the auction process, it cannot be changed. It’s essential to note that if a vehicle is not registered within 30 days of the registration number reservation, the allocated number will be automatically canceled, and the fee paid for the reservation will not be refunded.

By offering this opportunity for vehicle owners to choose and secure their preferred registration numbers, the Pune RTO aims to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline the registration process. This approach also underscores the importance of adhering to the specified timelines to ensure the smooth execution of the registration series and the auction process.
