Pune Revolutionizes Healthcare: Ten Free Specialty Polyclinics Set to Open Doors

Pune Municipal Corporation

Pune – In a landmark initiative aligned with the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is gearing up to introduce ten specialty polyclinics across the city, commencing from December 1. These polyclinics are designed to offer residents free access to specialized medical services, strategically located in key areas like Dhanori, Hadapsar, Bavdhan, Yerwada, and Wagholi. The clinics will be staffed with specialized doctors, including ENT specialists, ophthalmologists, and psychiatrists, catering to the community’s healthcare needs from 1 pm to 5 pm.

Dr. Bhagwan Pawar, PMC’s health officer, highlighted the necessity of these clinics given the rising cases of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. Beyond specialized doctors, the polyclinics will have PMC doctors available during regular working hours. Civic doctors will conduct initial medical examinations, seamlessly directing patients requiring specialized attention to expert doctors. This strategic initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and meet the escalating demand for specialized medical services within the community.

The launch of these specialty polyclinics underscores PMC’s commitment to bolstering public health infrastructure and delivering comprehensive healthcare services to residents. As the city anticipates the inauguration on December 1, this initiative stands as a positive stride towards addressing prevalent health issues and fostering a healthier community.
