Activists point to poor management and insufficient parking infrastructure as root causes of traffic gridlock, which not only disrupts daily commutes but also impacts school bus schedules and overall road safety. The influx of heavy vehicles, including dumpers and construction trucks, further compounds the problem.
Recent measures, such as parking prohibitions along sections of the Pune-Ahmednagar highway near Wagholi, have had limited success in addressing the underlying issues.
