PUNE: The Railway Police have started an illegal parking lot in the no-parking area at the Pune railway station. The parking lot has been started in the inner part of the station. What is surprising is that the Railway Police have not taken any action despite being told to do so by the Railways. Hence, both the departments are on the opposite sides.
The Railway Police station is located on the premises of Pune railway station. The Railway Police had started a parking lot on the footpath opposite the police station since many years. A board had been placed that the parking lot was only for police vehicles. The railway administration had sent many letters to the Railway Police that they should remove the parking lot and the policemen should park their vehicles at the parking lot located near the parcel office. However, the Railway Police were not paying heed to their requests.
The police station of the RPF is located next to the Railway Police station. They had also started a parking lot opposite the police station. The railway administration decided to set up an emergency medical facility at that place and hence, the parking lot of the RPF was removed. Later, the Railway Police also removed their parking lot but they started parking their vehicles on the premises of the railway station. This is posing problems for the passengers.
Dr Ramdas Bhise, PRO, Central Railway said, “The railway administration has sent a letter asking the Railway Police to remove their parking lot situated on the premises of the railway station. Traffic jams are being created due to the parking lot. The Railway Police have been given an alternative place near the parcel office to park their vehicles.”
Shrikant Dhivre, SP, Railway Police said, “The parking lot located opposite the Railway Police station at the railway station has been removed. An inspection will be carried out whether the policemen have started parking their vehicles somewhere else. Later, a decision will be taken.”
The Railway Police have started a parking lot on the premises of the Pune railway station. A board mentioning that it is only for vehicles of Railway Police has been displayed there. The Railway Police and the railway administration are on opposite sides on the issue.
