Pune Railway Division Proposes Prepaid Auto Rickshaw Booth for Enhanced Commuter Convenience at Pune Station

Pune, 12th July 2023: In a proactive move, the railway administration in Pune is working towards the establishment of a prepaid auto rickshaw booth at the Pune railway station. This initiative has been pursued by the Pune Division Central Railway since November 2022, with efforts directed towards engaging relevant state authorities. As part of this ongoing endeavor, a meeting was held on Tuesday, 11th July 2023, at the DCP (Traffic) Office in Yerwada.

Chaired by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Pune Railway Division, Dr. Milind Hirave, and attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vijay Magar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Khade, Assistant Regional Traffic Officer Sujit Dongarjal, and representatives from the auto rickshaw union, the meeting focused on addressing the demands presented by the auto rickshaw union.

Dr. Milind Hirave, representing the railway administration, expressed a strong commitment to establish the prepaid auto rickshaw booth as soon as possible. The introduction of a prepaid system aims to tackle the issue of auto drivers overcharging passengers and enhance convenience for commuters at the railway station. This system will also provide auto drivers with their due rights within a reasonable timeframe, eliminating uncertainties. Ultimately, the implementation of a prepaid auto rickshaw booth will contribute to improving Pune’s image in the minds of passengers traveling to and from the city’s railway station.

The next meeting, scheduled to take place soon, will bring together representatives from the auto rickshaw unions, DCP (Traffic), railways, and the Regional Transport Office (RTO). The primary objective of this meeting will be to deliberate on various issues pertaining to the reopening and smooth, efficient operation of the prepaid auto rickshaw booth. Through collaborative efforts and effective communication, the stakeholders aim to establish a reliable and customer-friendly system that benefits both passengers and auto rickshaw drivers.
