Pune Railway Division Collects 2 Crore in Fines from Ticketless Travelers

Pune: In June 2023, Pune Railway Division conducted a ticket inspection and discovered 25,377 individuals traveling without tickets, resulting in a fine collection of Rs 2 crore 14 lakh 61 thousand. Additionally, 8,477 people were fined Rs 50 lakh 95 thousand for irregular travel, while 164 individuals were fined Rs 21 thousand for carrying baggage without booking.

Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Indu Rani Dubey, Additional Divisional Railway Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Milind Hirve, and Divisional Commercial Manager Dr. Ramdas Bhise, this ticket checking campaign was conducted in coordination with Ticket Inspectors and Railway Security Force.

The railway administration emphasizes that the ticket inspection campaign is an ongoing effort. Passengers are urged to travel with valid tickets to avoid fines under the Railway Act. Non-payment of fines may result in legal consequences, including imprisonment.
