Pune: Pune Commissioner Clamps Down On Fahim Khan And Accomplices Under MCOCA

Pune: The Pune Police Commissioner, Ritesh Kumar, has taken his 98th action under the incisive Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Faheem Khan and two of his other accomplices. Fahim has been charged with attempted murder by stabbing a youngster in Pune’s Market Yard area.

Acting on the complaint of 20-year-old Market Yard resident Kumar Ram Kamble, Market Yard Police, under the supervision of the Police Commissioner, and other team members registered complaints against Faheem Feroz Khan (age 21) and Shah Rukh Salim Khan (age 21) under Indian Penal Code 307, 323, 504, 34, the Arms Act, the Maharashtra Police Act, and the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

A few days ago, Kamble registered a police complaint against the accused for attempting a brutal assault on him for the trivial reason of bursting firecrackers in the Market Yard area. According to the police complaint, both the accused and a minor accused brutally stabbed the plaintiff on the night of November 12 at Street No. 11 of the Market Yard area.

A proposal to incorporate Sections 3(1)(ii), 3(2), and 3(4) of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, 1999, in this case was submitted to the Additional Commissioner of Police, Eastern Regional Division, Ranjan Kumar Sharma. After detailed scrutiny, the Additional Commissioner of Police approved the inclusion of the offence under MCOCA.

Accordingly, action has been taken against the trio, and they have been put in Yerawada jail. Their juvenile companion has also been detained successfully. The Assistant Commissioner of Police of Wanwadi Division, Shahuraje Salve, is conducting further investigation into it.

This operation was led by Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar, with the support of Joint Commissioner of Police (Additional Charge) Ramnath Pokale, Additional Commissioner of Police for the Crime Branch, Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police for Circle-5 R Raja, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shahuraje Salve, Senior Police Inspector Suresh Singh Goud, Police Inspector Crime Swapnali Shinde, Assistant Police Inspector Kailas Daberao, Police Sub-Inspector Chetan Bhosle, Police Enforcement Officer Amarnath Lonkar, and Chavan from the Surveillance Team.
