Pune: In a shocking revelation, the Jejuri police of Purandar taluka have successfully cracked down on a recent surge in two-wheeler thefts, leading to the arrest of a perpetrator who turned out to be none other than a policeman himself. The accused, identified as Vinod Maruti Namdar, a resident of Wanewadi in Taluka Baramati, was apprehended after an intensive investigation by the Pune Rural Police Force.
Vinod Namdar, currently stationed at the headquarters of the Pune Rural Police Force, was implicated in the theft of eight motorcycles in the Nira area of Purandar taluka. The rise in such incidents prompted a technical investigation, leading the police to the surprising discovery of Namdar’s involvement.
Police Inspector Bapusaheb Sandbhor of Jejuri Police Station informed that Namdar confessed to his involvement in the two-wheeler thefts during a thorough interrogation. Namdar’s modus operandi involved stealing motorcycles upon arriving at villages and subsequently selling them to individuals in different localities.
Further intensifying the investigation, the police apprehended two individuals, Aslam Mulani and Prithviraj Thombre, in connection with purchasing stolen two-wheelers from Namdar. While Mulani and Thombre were granted bail by the court, Namdar has been remanded to Yerwada Jail.
The arrest of Namdar has sent shockwaves through the police department. As the investigation unfolds, authorities anticipate that Namdar’s arrest may expose additional criminal activities.
