Pune, 1st July 2023: The Pune Police Commissioner, Retesh Kumaarr, has taken strict action against seven additional police personnel, including a senior police inspector, for their alleged dereliction of duty while serving at the Warje Malwadi police station. This move comes just days after the suspension of seven policemen from the city police force.

The suspended officers include Senior Police Inspector D S Hake, Police Inspector D G Bagwe, Police Sub Inspector Manoj Bagal, Police Sub Inspector Yashwant Padwale, Police Sub Inspector Janardan Holkar, Police Naik Amol Bhise, and Police Naik Sachin Kudale. It is alleged that these officers failed to fulfill their duties during their tenure at the Warje Malwadi Police Station.

Earlier, the city police commissioner had suspended seven policemen, including a senior police inspector from Sahkarnagar police station, for similar reasons.

The suspension of the officers at Warje Malwadi Police Station is linked to their alleged negligence in handling the case of criminal Papulya Waghmare and not adhering to the instructions given by their superiors to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against the accused. According to the suspension orders, the officers were directed to take action against the mentioned criminal in January 2023.

Instead of taking appropriate action, the officers allegedly submitted a misleading report to their superiors, which resulted in an increase in criminal activities in the area. Holding the concerned officers accountable, the police commissioner issued their suspension orders.

The Pune Police Commissioner’s strict actions against the suspended officers send a clear message that negligence of duty will not be tolerated within the police force. It is crucial for law enforcement personnel to fulfill their responsibilities diligently and work towards maintaining law and order in the city.
