Pune: Police Sub Inspector Arrested by Anti Corruption Bureau for Bribery

On August 2nd, 2023, a shocking incident unfolded in Pune as the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials arrested a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) from Pune City Police for allegedly demanding a bribe to refrain from registering an FIR. The accused, identified as Shankar Dhondiba Kumbhare, aged 43, was attached to Vishrambaug Police Station in the city.

According to the ACB officials, a written complaint was lodged at Vishrambaug Police Station regarding a certain matter. It is alleged that the accused PSI demanded a bribe amounting to Rs 50,000 from the complainant to prevent the conversion of the complaint into an FIR. Subsequently, the accused agreed to accept a reduced bribe of Rs 15,000. This unethical demand caught the attention of the ACB, who promptly took action.

Upon verifying the information and gathering evidence, the ACB officials laid a trap on Wednesday. The accused police officer was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe, leading to his immediate arrest.
