Pune Police Invoke MCOCA Against Gangster and Associates, Marking 50th Case Under Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr

In a significant development, Pune city police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against notorious gangster Abhishek alias Abhi Ramesh Tambe (21) and his associates. This move marks the 50th MCOCA case registered against criminal gangs in the city under the vigilant leadership of Pune city police commissioner Retesh Kumaarr.

Tambe and his associates were recently apprehended in connection with an attempted murder case reported at the Yerwada police station. Senior police inspector Balkrishna Kadam submitted a proposal to invoke MCOCA against Tambe and his gang members. This proposal was forwarded to additional commissioner of police Ranjankumar Sharma through Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Shashikant Borate.

The invocation of MCOCA underscores the authorities’ commitment to curbing organized criminal activities and maintaining law and order. The Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act is a powerful legal tool designed to combat and suppress organized crime syndicates and criminal activities that threaten the security and stability of society.

The Pune city police have been actively using MCOCA to tackle criminal gangs and their activities, aiming to dismantle their networks and bring the perpetrators to justice. This 50th case under Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr’s supervision highlights the unwavering efforts of the police force to ensure the safety and well-being of the city’s residents.

MCOCA provides law enforcement agencies with enhanced capabilities to investigate, prosecute, and prevent organized criminal activities. It empowers authorities to take stringent actions against individuals involved in organized crime, disrupting their operations and ensuring a safer environment for the public.
