Pune Police give back 237 mobile phones worth Rs 33.45 lakh to their original owners

Pune: A special drive was conducted regarding property missing cases under zone II conceptualised by DCP Smartana Patil. Investigating squads from the six police stations under the zone recovered 237 mobile phones worth over Rs 33.45 lakh and restored them back to their original owners.

A month-long special drive was conducted by all the police stations under Zone II. A special squad was formed headed by a senior police inspector, including a senior police official and two police personnel, by each police station. These squads corresponded with the mobile phone companies mentioning the IMEI number. They succeeded in locating 237 cellphones in November 2023.

A function was held to distribute the recovered mobile phones to their owners. Some owners could not be contacted. However, they will be returned to them by following up.

The drive was implemented under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr and Addl CP Pravinkumar Patil. It was conceptualised by DCP Smartana Patil while ACP Narayan Shirgaonkar, senior PIs of all police stations of Zone II, squad officials and personnel carried out the action.

*Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station: 60 mobile phones (Rs 7.76 lakh)

*Sahakar Nagar Police Station: 33 mobile phones (Rs 5.13 lakh)

*Swargate Police Station: 43 mobile phones (over Rs 5.45 lakh)

*Lashkar Police Station: 46 mobile phones (Rs 6.14 lakh)

*Bund Garden Police Station: 28 mobile phones (over Ra 3.67 lakh)

*Koregaon Park Police Station: 29 mobile phones (over Rs 5.28 lakh)
