Pune Police Crack Down on Dual Identity Culprit: Chef by Day, Thief by Night

August 17, 2023: Pune City Police have successfully apprehended an individual who had been masquerading as a chef during the day while secretly engaging in theft during the night. This arrest comes as a result of the diligent efforts of law enforcement officers, leading to the resolution of two separate theft-related cases that had been causing concerns within the city.

The accused, identified as Furkan Naeem Khan, a 21-year-old resident of Panipat district in Haryana, had been working as a chef at a hotel located in the Mundhwa area of Pune. However, his seemingly legitimate day job masked his nefarious activities as a thief. The Pune City Police, based at Chandannagar Police Station, had been investigating a string of house break-ins reported within the city limits.

One of the cases involved the theft of foreign currency worth Rs 3.07 lakh from a residence. The police’s relentless efforts to crack the case included a thorough examination of CCTV footage from the vicinity. It was during this review that the accused, Furkan Naeem Khan, was spotted in one of the footage segments. The breakthrough prompted a deeper investigation into his involvement in the crime.

Subsequent inquiries led the police to Furkan Naeem Khan, who subsequently confessed to not only the house break-in incident in question but also to another similar case reported in the Kharadi area. Promptly after obtaining his confession, the police took him into custody from Pimpri Chinchwad.
