Pune: Pune police commissioner Ritesh Kumar took action against a 22-year-old notorious criminal, Aavez Ashpak Shaikh, under the MPDA Act. This is the 86th action of the Pune Police Commissioner against criminals in the city under the MPDA Act, and the commissioner has ensured that he would not hesitate to take such bold decisions in the upcoming time as well to maintain the city’s law and order.
The accused, Aavez Shaikh, is a notorious criminal, and he has multiple criminal cases registered against him at Samarth Police Station. He and his accomplices have been charged with serious offences of attempted murder, rioting, and illegal possession of weapons such as pistols, iron machetes, swords, etc. within Kondhwa and Samarth police station limits.
Police informed that in the last two years, he has been named for two serious crimes within police station limits. Also, his increasing criminal activities have disturbed the peace and public order in the area, and people were hesitating to lodge a complaint against him because of his terror.
Taking note of it, a proposal to take action against the accused under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Slumlords, Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, and Dangerous Persons Act (MPDA) was submitted to Pune City Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar. After verifying the proposals and documents received, the Commissioner of Police has ordered Aavez Ashpak Shaikh to be lodged in Nagpur Central Jail for one year under the MPDA Act.
Accordingly, action was taken against the accused by a team of Senior Police Inspector Suraj Bandgar of Samarth Police Station, Senior Police Inspector Chandrakant Bedre of Crime Branch, PCB, and other police officers.
