Pune: After the minor accused was granted bail in the Kalyaninagar hit-and-run case, the Pune police commissioner and police team have received much criticism from all the citizens. Opposition parties questioned the style of working of the police administration in this case and demanded a thorough investigation of the case.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut demanded an investigation into police action and the sacking of the police commissioner for irresponsibly handling the accident case.
Two days ago, the minor accused hit his four-wheeler car with a two-wheeler in the Kalyaninagar area from behind, in which two people died on the spot. However, the court released the minor accused on bail within 15 hours of the incident, considering his minor age. After this, almost all political parties raised voices against this bail and alleged police officials for not convincingly justifying their side in front of the court.
On all these allegations, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar held a press conference on Tuesday. He said that police will approach the session court against the bail orders of the court. He said, “Police officials submitted two applications before the court on Sunday, seeking action against the accused, considering him a major as the case was serious. However, the court gave a bail order to the accused, citing that he is a minor.”
Amitesh Kumar further said that meanwhile, the court also quashed the second application of the police to send the accused to a remand home for 14 days until the first application is decided. He assured people that no negligence would be allowed in this case by police officials. Meanwhile, the Home Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had ordered a strict investigation into the case.
