Pune: Police action speeds up in hit-and-run case, five including bar owners and managers arrested

Pune: Two IT engineers were killed at Kalyani Nagar Junction in the wee hours of Sunday when a grey Porshce car hit their two- wheeler. The deceased have been identified as Ashwini Koshta and Aneesh Awadhiya.

The minor son of a city-based builder was detained. Later, the minor’s father and four owners and managers of two pubs were also booked and arrested.

Action has been speeded up in the case. The accused minor’s father and renowned developer Vishal Agarwal has been arrested from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Moreover the owners and managers of two bars, where the accused minor consumed liquor have also been arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Vishal Agarwal, Cosie pub owner Pralhad Bhutada, manager Sachin Katkar and Black pub owner Satish Bonkar and manager Ramesh Sangale. They have been booked under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. This was revealed by Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar on Monday. The Pune Police then arrested the five accused.

CP Kumar said, “It is being said that we are trying to shield the accused. But we have evoked relevant legal provisions. Even though some people have any doubts, then we are ready to discuss them. We will bring all accused to book. All are equal before the law. We will move a petition before the sessions court against the accused. An Assistant Commissioner of Police is investigating the case.”
