Pune: PMC told to bear expenditure for PM Modi’s visit

PUNE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Pune on August 1, 2023 for inaugurating civic projects and public dedication of the Pune Metro stretch. At that time, an expenditure of ₹1.85 crore was incurred on setting up the pandal and seating arrangement and it will be recovered from PMC’s coffers. A proposal has been submitted to the standing committee.

During his visit, Modi was honoured with Lokmanya Tilak National Award and the programme was held at SP College ground. After this programme, he attended the programme at police ground at Shivaji Nagar. Various projects of PMC, PMRDA, PCMC and Pune Metro were dedicated to people and inaugurated. For this programme, a huge pandal had been erected and seating arrangements for 7,000 people had been made.

The PMC has been told to bear the expenditure incurred on both the programmes. A proposal to approve this expenditure has been submitted to the standing committee by Administrator Vikram Kumar.

German hangar type pandal
Since Modi’s programme was held during monsoon, to avoid inconvenience, a German hangar type pandal was put up. The proposal states that the contractor who had been given the work of putting up a pandal for G-20 summit, was asked to put up the pandal.
