Pune: A person complaining of stomach ache came to a hospital in Kharadi. After a check-up, the doctors realised that the location of organs in the chest and stomach were in a mirror image of a human body. It is a rare genetic disorder called Situs inversus. He was admitted for gallbladder stones.
The 75-year-old patient came to the hospital complaining of stomach ache. He was diagnosed with gallbladder stones. At the same time, he was diagnosed with the Situs inversus problem. Manipal Hospital’s Dr Sudhir Jadhav and his team conducted a laparoscopic surgery to remove the stones from his gallbladder and saved his life.
Bariatric surgeon Dr Jadhav said that the patient had the inversus and dextrocardia problems. Hence, the surgery had to be done with utmost care. A proper method was used for accuracy and perfection to locate the organs. The patient was discharged a day after the operation.
The patient had his heart on the right side. This had complicated the gallbladder stone removal. It was done accurately using the laparoscopic surgery.
