Pune: The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Sohala, the annual palkhi procession, will begin from Alandi to Pandharpur on Saturday (June 29). In this backdrop, vehicle entry has been banned in the Alandi area, except for warkari and essential services vehicles from Tuesday (June 25).
This change has been necessitated as a very high number of warkaris are expected to join the procession this year. Commuters should use alternative routes, said the Alandi Police.
Traffic coming from Chakan via Chimbli Phata to Alandi and traffic coming from Alandi Phata-Chakan has been diverted via Jai Ganesh Samrajya Chowk-Alankapuram Chowk-Bhosari and Magzine Chowk. Traffic coming from Chakan-Shelpimpalgoan-Vadgaon Ghenand to Alandi has been diverted via Koyali Phata-Koyali Gaon-Markalgaon. Traffic coming from Markal-Dhanore Phata to Alandi has been diverted via Dhanore Phata-Charholi Phata-Magazine Chowk-Alankapuram Chowk.
Vehicles coming from Bharatmata Chowk-Moshi Chowk to Alandi will not be allowed to enter Alandi. Traffic on this route has been diverted via Jai Ganesh Samrajya Chowk, Alankapuram Chowk, Bhosari Chowk and Magazine Chowk via Bhosari-Moshi-Chakan-Charholi Phata-Koyali, Shelpimpalgaon and Alankapuram-Jai Ganesh Samrajya Chowk.
Traffic coming from Pune will not be allowed to go beyond Charholi Phata Chowk. Also, vehicles coming from Moshi will not be allowed to go beyond Dudulgaon Octroi Post. Traffic coming from Chimbli will not be allowed to go beyond Kelgaon Chowk-Bapdev Chowk. Traffic coming from Chakan will not go beyond Indrayani Hospital.
Vehicles coming from Vadgaon Ghenand will not be able to go beyond Vishrantwadi. Traffic coming from Marakal will not go beyond Dhanori Phata-PCS Chowk.
All above-mentioned traffic diversions are applicable from Tuesday noon (June 25) till 9 pm on Sunday (June 30).
