Pune-Nashik High-Speed Railway Secures Massive Funding Boost in 2024 Budget

In a major development for regional connectivity, the Pune-Nashik High-Speed Railway project has received a substantial allocation of Rs 2500 Crore in the 2024 Railway Budget. This ambitious initiative aims to bridge the gap between Pune and Nashik, two pivotal cities currently lacking a direct railway connection.

The earmarked funds not only signify the government’s commitment to the project but also reflect a broader strategy to enhance transportation infrastructure in the region. In addition to the railway line, an allocation of ₹18.85 Crore has been designated for the construction of a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Nashik, supplementing the previous ₹45 Crore allocation. This dual investment underscores the government’s seriousness in promoting comprehensive development.

The Pune-Nashik High-Speed Railway is slated to cover a distance of 235 km, offering a swift and efficient mode of transportation between the two cities. With an anticipated top speed of 200 km per hour, the travel time is expected to reduce from the current 6 hours by road to an astonishing 1 hour and 45 minutes. The project’s scope includes the construction of 18 tunnels, 19 flyovers, and 20 stations, ensuring seamless travel and efficient connectivity.

This strategic railway initiative is a key component of the government’s larger plan to fortify ties between Pune and Nashik, positively impacting various sectors such as industries, education, culture, and trade. The improved connectivity is also set to stimulate agricultural and freight transport, contributing to overall economic growth in the region.

As the project progresses with land acquisition and planning, the Pune-Nashik Railway Line is poised to emerge as a critical link, significantly enhancing connectivity and fostering prosperity in Pune, Nashik, and neighboring areas.
