Pune Municipal Corporation Revives Development Initiatives in Uruli Devachi and Fursungi

Pune, August 23, 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation is embarking on a renewed path of development for the villages of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi. In a decisive move, the municipal administration has approved the execution of developmental projects worth one crore rupees in these two villages.

With the Finance Committee of the Municipal Corporation giving the green light to these projects, the tendering process is set to commence soon, promising swift progress in the development efforts of both Uruli Devachi and Fursungi.

The incorporation of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi into the municipal jurisdiction in October 2017 marked the beginning of a series of development projects initiated by the municipal administration. Over the past five years, an approximate investment of 250 crore rupees has been directed towards these villages, underscoring the commitment to their growth.

A significant allocation of around 42 crore rupees is earmarked within the 392 crore sewage disposal project to further enhance the infrastructure of both villages. Furthermore, the government has approved a comprehensive Town Planning (TP) scheme covering an expansive area of 371 hectares for these locales.

Earlier this year, the Urban Development Department of the state government released a preliminary notification outlining the potential removal of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi from the municipal jurisdiction. This move was aimed at establishing a unified municipal council for these villages.

In response, the Pune Municipal Corporation expressed its stance on the matter, conveying non-objection to the exclusion of these villages. The process of gathering objections and suggestions ensued, leading to a comprehensive report that has been submitted to the Urban Development Department. Amid concerns about the potential halt in the villages’ development and ongoing grievances, the municipal administration had temporarily suspended ongoing developmental initiatives.

However, given the assurance from the Urban Development Department that the villages remain under the municipal ambit until a thorough legal examination is conducted, the Pune Municipal Corporation has taken proactive measures to recommence developmental works. This decision reflects the commitment to the growth and prosperity of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi.
