Pune: Mundhwa Police Launches ‘Aapla Mundhwa, Surakshit Mundhwa’ to Ensure Safety in Residential Housing Societies

Pune, 31st July 2023: Responding to a rise in tenant-related crimes in Pune’s Kondhwa and neighboring areas, the Mundhwa Police has taken a proactive step to enhance security in residential societies. With the introduction of the initiative ‘Aapla Mundhwa, Surakshit Mundhwa,’ they are determined to strictly enforce rental laws to prevent unfortunate incidents.

In a comprehensive meeting held on July 28th at Mundhwa Police Station, residents of Mundhwa were educated about rental agreement laws and regulations. Drawing inspiration from the successful implementation of rental laws in the Kondhwa region by the Kondhwa Police, the Mundhwa Police is now keen on adopting similar measures to safeguard their community.

The meeting witnessed the participation of representatives from over 30 societies in Keshav Nagar and other areas of Mundhwa. The police provided valuable guidance, emphasizing the significance of promptly providing relevant documents to the police station whenever a new tenant is accepted.

Vijay Tamhane, Senior Police Inspector at Mundhwa Police Station, highlighted the increasing crime rates involving tenants in the city and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to enforcing rental laws in Mundhwa.

Mundhwa Police urges house owners, society chairpersons, secretaries, and citizens in the Mundhwa-Keshavnagar-Ghorpadi area to adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Residing citizens must provide complete tenant details, including original and previous addresses, to the nearest police station under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
  2. Failure to submit tenant information on time may result in the registration of a case against the house owner under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
  3. Society chairpersons and secretaries must ensure police verification of tenants before granting them entry into the society.
  4. House owners must provide a copy of the online tenant verification to the police station.
  5. Any demand for an exorbitant deposit should be immediately reported to the police station, and appropriate legal action will be taken.

Under the banner of ‘Aapla Mundhwa, Surakshit Mundhwa,’ Mundhwa Police aims to create a secure living environment for all residents by ensuring the effective implementation of rental laws in the region. By enforcing these guidelines, they seek to curb tenant-related crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of the community members in Mundhwa and its neighboring areas.
