Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express to Introduce Women’s Coach for Enhanced Comfort and Safety

In a significant move to prioritize women’s safety and comfort during travel, Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne has announced the addition of a separate coach for women in the Pune-Mumbai Sinhagad Express. This development was unveiled during a meeting focusing on railway improvements in the Lok Sabha constituency of Maval, where various infrastructure projects were discussed.

One of the key accomplishments highlighted by MP Barne is the completion of a 102-feet bridge at Avalas on the Karjat-Khopoli road. This achievement is expected to enhance connectivity and ease transportation in the region. Additionally, discussions during the meeting included ongoing railway works in Lonavala, Karjat, Neral, Uran, and Panvel.

During the meeting, the need for expediting railway projects and ensuring the timely completion of the over-bridge was emphasized. Responding to the demands of commuters, a dedicated compartment for women in the Sinhagad Express was proposed. Railway officials, including Railway Manager Rajnish Kumar Goyal and Additional Manager Akhlaq Ahmed, have assured that a separate coach for women will be added at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) railway station.

The infrastructural developments extend beyond the Sinhagad Express initiative. Sheds are being constructed on platforms one and two at Neral railway station to enhance passenger convenience. Lonavala station is undergoing transformation to become an ideal station, considering the substantial tourist influx. The Coaching Complex at Panvel Railway Station is also progressing, with one phase already completed.

MP Barne further revealed that a local train service between Panvel and Uran is set to commence shortly. Beautification projects for Lonavala, Karjat, Neral, and Panvel railway stations are also in the pipeline, aiming to elevate the overall travel experience for passengers in the Maval constituency and Pune District.

As these initiatives take shape, the focus remains on providing a safer and more comfortable journey for all passengers, with special consideration for the well-being of women travelers.
