Pune Mourns: Havaldar Dilip Balasaheb Ozarkar, Martyr of Kargil, to be Laid to Rest Tomorrow

The city of Pune is draped in somber grief as it bids farewell to one of its valiant sons, Havaldar Dilip Balasaheb Ozarkar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the nation. Havaldar Ozarkar, bearing the service number 15171455F, served with unwavering dedication in the 94 Medium Regiment and tragically lost his life on September 3, 2023, while on a mission from Kargil to Leh.

The mortal remains of this brave soldier are set to arrive at Pune Airport via Air India Flight No AI 1851 at 11:50 PM today (September 4). With heavy hearts, his family, led by his next of kin, Sadhana Ozarkar, residing at Bhawani Peth, Pune, will receive him.

Pune will pay its heartfelt respects and bid a solemn farewell to Havaldar Ozarkar through a wreath-laying ceremony at Pune Airport. Three wreaths will be reverently laid in honor of the fallen soldier by the following dignitaries:

1) The Station Commander of Station Headquarters Khadki will lay a wreath on behalf of the Army Commander.

2) The Commanding Officer of Station Workshop EME Khadki will lay a wreath on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa (MG & G) Area.

3) The duty officer from the Bombay Engineering Group & Centre will lay a wreath on behalf of the General Officer Commanding, DM and GSA.

The final journey of Havaldar Ozarkar is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at his native place, where he will receive full military honors as a mark of profound respect for his unwavering dedication and the ultimate sacrifice he made in the service of the nation.

As the entire city comes together in mourning, Havaldar Ozarkar’s memory will forever be etched in the hearts of Pune’s residents as a symbol of valor and selflessness. His supreme sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the immense sacrifices made by our armed forces in their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the nation.
