Pune: Kasba Peth MLA Ravindra Dhangekar has demanded an inquiry by central investigative agencies into the drug mafia Lalit Patil case. He alleged that many top officers and politicians were involved in this matter.
Dhangekar has written a letter to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in this regard. “New facts are revealed every day in the case and its scope is likely to widen. It is said that some politicians and police officials had helped Lalit Patil. Drug racketing is not possible without state support. The Sassoon Hospital administration, police officers and a minister had helped Patil to extend his stay in the hospital and later his escape from there,” states the letter.
It further says, “The Pune and Mumbai police will not be able to investigate this case properly due to political pressure. Hence, to take this case to its logical conclusion, the central agencies will have to probe it. Lalit Patil should undergo the Narco test.”
