Pune: Midnight Leopard Sighting Sparks Fear In Alephata’s Siddhivinayak Society

Leopard In Pune

Pune: Residents of Siddhivinayak Society in Alephata, Junnar Taluka, were alarmed when a video capturing a leopard’s nocturnal prowl surfaced on social media. The incident, recorded on CCTV, revealed the leopard’s presence as it roamed the society’s premises in search of prey.

In the absence of a safety compound, stray dogs sheltered on Society’s premises at night, which became the target of the leopard’s hunt. Around midnight on Monday, the leopard entered the society’s parking lot, prompting the dogs to flee to the terrace. Unable to locate the terrace, the leopard descended the stairs.

Although the dogs’ barking echoed through society, the late hour and chilly weather kept most residents unaware of the leopard’s presence. The CCTV footage, however, recorded the leopard’s movements, confirming its presence on society’s premise.

The incident has left citizens in the area on edge, considering previous leopard sightings in Alephata. Authorities are now urged to address the growing concerns of residents regarding wildlife encounters in the region.
