Pune Metro’s Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Extension Nears Operational Milestone

Pune, India – The extended service of the Pune Metro, spanning from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi, is on the verge of receiving operational approval following the meticulous inspection conducted by the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner’s team. This significant step brings the eagerly awaited metro extension one step closer to officially commencing its service operations.

Atul Gadgil, Director (Works) at Mahametro, expressed optimism about the progress, stating, “The ongoing final inspection of the Ruby Hall to Ramwadi Metro line by the Central Metro Rail Safety Commissioner is slated for completion by January 22, paving the way for a crucial decision on the official approval for service initiation.”

The inspection, led by Central Metro Rail Safety Commissioner Janak Kumar Garg, focused on scrutinizing the completed work on the extended route. The thorough examination is a key element in ensuring the safety and compliance of the metro service.

Previously, the inspection process encountered a challenge at Yerwada station, where stairs encroached upon Nagar road. In response to local opposition and traffic concerns, Mahametro took prompt action to relocate the stairs as per the Municipal Corporation’s directive. This involved adjustments to the entrance design of Yerwada station and the subsequent demolition of certain stair pillars, with these alterations now successfully completed.

During last week’s inspection in Pune, the Metro Rail Safety Commissioner team identified some discrepancies, which Mahametro promptly rectified. The authority ensured that the extended route adheres to safety standards, demonstrating a commitment to providing a secure and reliable metro service.

Metro Rail Safety Commissioner Garg is currently overseeing the final inspection process in Pune, emphasizing the dedication to a thorough assessment before granting official approval.

Upon receiving the commissioner’s approval, Mahametro will collaborate with the state government to finalize details for the launch of the Ruby Hall to Ramwadi route. The state government will then determine the official commencement date for this eagerly anticipated metro extension, as stated by Mahametro PRO Hemant Sonawane.
