Pune Metro services will operate till midnight during Ganesh festival, says Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

PUNE: Deputy CM Ajit Pawar is visiting Pune today. In the morning, a 106 foot tall national flag was dedicated to people at Hadapsar. Later, he held a meeting with officials of Ganesh mandals at the police headquarters. Pawar announced that Pune Metro services will operate till midnight during the Ganesh festival.

“Pune’s Ganesh festival is famous throughout the world and foreigners come to the city to attend the festival. The Ganesh festival will be celebrated with enthusiasm this year. The police department is ready to take care of devotees and they have been issued specific instructions. The processions held during the festival is a different facet of the Ganesh festival in Pune. The processions are delayed every year. This year, the mandals are going to make efforts to end their processions on time. The administration will also take suitable steps,” Pawar said.

Pawar spelt out reasons for conducting a meeting every week in Pune. “I think the effects of the meeting will be felt for a week and hence, I conduct a meeting every week. Some feel that the effect of the meetings will be felt for one or two months. Hence, they conduct meetings in one or two months. I, Shinde and Fadnavis have a good rapport. Some people don’t like or agree with my stance and hence, they criticise me,” Pawar said.
