Pune Metro Reaches Out to PMC and PCMC for Parking Space at Metro Stations

In a recent development, Pune Metro officials have sought assistance from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in acquiring parking space for metro stations in the city.

As per reports, out of the 30 metro stations located in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, parking space is currently available at only 7 stations. The lack of parking facilities at the remaining stations is a result of land-related challenges faced by the Metro officials.

To address this issue, Pune Metro has approached PMC and PCMC for support in identifying and acquiring suitable parking space for the metro stations. The need for adequate parking infrastructure is crucial to facilitate seamless connectivity and enhance the convenience of metro commuters.

At present, the existing parking facilities for Pune Metro are situated at Pimpri Chinchwad Station, Sant Tukaram Maharaj Nagar Station, Ideal Colony, Magalwar Peth, Civil Court, Vanaz Depot, and Swargate Metro Station. These parking spaces cater to the parking requirements of commuters using the metro system.

The Pune Metro project aims to connect a significant area spanning 33.2 kilometers in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad through two distinct corridors. The successful implementation of the metro system is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and provide an efficient and eco-friendly mode of transportation for the residents.

However, the availability of adequate parking facilities at metro stations is a critical aspect that needs to be addressed to encourage more individuals to opt for metro travel. By approaching PMC and PCMC for assistance, Pune Metro officials are actively seeking solutions to overcome the challenges associated with parking space scarcity.

The cooperation between Pune Metro, PMC, and PCMC is crucial in identifying suitable land parcels and developing parking infrastructure that aligns with the requirements of the metro system. This collaborative effort will help ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience for metro commuters by providing them with convenient parking facilities at various stations.

As the discussions progress between Pune Metro and the respective municipal corporations, it is expected that suitable arrangements for parking space will be made available at the remaining metro stations. This proactive approach demonstrates the commitment of all stakeholders towards the success of the Pune Metro project and their dedication to providing a comprehensive and integrated public transportation system for the city.
