Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on December 7 received Most Innovative PPP Metro Project of the Year Award for its Pune Metro Line 3 Maan-Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar Project organized by the Urban Infra Group at India International Centre, New Delhi at the hands of Prof. Dr. Manoj Chaudhari, Vice-Chancellor, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (Ministry of Railways).
About 350 applications were received across various categories in the Urban Infrastructure Sector and PMRDA managed to bag this Award. The Award was granted considering the innovative way of project structuring and execution by bundling a variety of financing instruments for an Urban Transport Sector Project while hedging the risk of the Authority but at the same time promoting the participation of the private sector.
It is India’s only Metro Project wherein more than 97% was acquired before commencement of Metro Works thereby reducing the possibility of project delays due to land acquisition issues. The Project is designed in order to optimize land acquisition. The Project is being developed on Sustainable Engineering principles and Green Energy concepts. The State of the Art CBTC system is being used for Signaling and 3rd rail technology is being used for Power Traction.
PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan received Modern Metro Woman of the Year Award
PMRDA Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan received Modern Metro Woman of the Year Award considering her active engagement on the Project since 2019 wherein multiple milestones like Signing of Concession Agreement, Financial Closure of the Project, receipt of Grant from Central Government (Rs. 1224.8 cr), declaration of Appointed Date, designing of Double Decker Flyover at University Square and about 51% completion of the Project have been achieved during her current tenure.
PMRDA’s Chief Engineer Rinaj Pathan, Executive Engineer Raju Thanage and Senior Project Officer Darshan Bamb were present to receive the Award.
About PMRDA:
PMRDA or the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, established in the year 2015 is the Planning and Development Authority for the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR). The PMR is India’s 3rd largest Metropolitan Region having an area of 6,900 sq.km.
To ensure planned, sustainable and economically sound development of the region, PMRDA has published the Draft Development Plan. Its other projects include Pune Metro Line 3, Pune Ring Road, Housing for EWS&LIG at Sector 12 in Pimpri-Chinchwad etc.
About Pune Metro Line 3:
The Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in Hinjawadi, Pune houses thousands of companies and employs lakhs of professionals but is severely affected by long and strenuous traffic snarls.
PMRDA has undertaken the development of Pune Metro Line 3 to resolve the traffic congestion issues and revive the international reverence of the IT Park by providing a sustainable, environment friendly as well as fast, reliable and convenient MRTS.
The Project is being implemented on the Public Private Partnership basis and is awarded to the Joint Consortium of TRIL Urban Transport Pvt. Ltd. and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH.
The Concession Agreement was signed on 21/09/2019 and the Appointed Date was declared on 25/11/2021.
About 51% of physical progress has been achieved so far. The Metro is expected to be operational by March 2025.
