Pune Metro Expands Feeder Bus Services to Enhance Connectivity at Metro Stations

Efforts to bolster feeder connectivity in Pune have gained momentum with the Maha Metro’s proactive measures to enhance transportation services. Following the successful launch of a new feeder bus route from Ramwadi Metro station to Lohegaon Airport, authorities are now focusing on extending feeder bus services from additional metro stations.

Since August of the previous year, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has been operating feeder buses from Civil Court, Nal Stop, and Garware College stations. However, due to inadequate response, the frequency of trips was reduced and eventually halted.

In a bid to revitalize feeder bus services and cater better to commuters’ needs, Maha Metro is planning to reschedule these services for optimal efficiency. Suggestions from regular travelers include deploying smaller buses during peak hours to facilitate connectivity to nearby areas such as Karvenagar and Prabhat Road from Nal Stop station.

The initiative for improved connectivity also entails conducting a comprehensive study of routes within a 3-4 kilometer radius from the metro stations to streamline services and address commuter demands effectively.

Moreover, Maha Metro is set to introduce share-an-auto services at metro stations, following constructive discussions between a city-based forum, autorickshaw unions, and metro officials. This collaborative effort aims to further enhance convenience for commuters and promote seamless intermodal transportation options.

The recent extension of the feeder bus route from Ramwadi Metro Station to Lohegaon Airport has already yielded positive results, with a noticeable increase in daily footfall. With these ongoing initiatives, Maha Metro endeavors to facilitate easy access to metro stations and optimize transportation services for residents and visitors alike in Pune.
