Female API Suspended

Pune: City Joint Commissioner of Police (CP) Sandeep Karnik has summarily suspended a woman Assistant Police Inspector (API) in the drug mafia Lalit Patil escape case. She has been identified as API Savita Hanumant Bhagwat, posted at the headquarters.

The suspension order was issued on Thursday. API Bhagwat was posted at the Sassoon Hospital. She was supposed to frisk the undertrials admitted in ward number 16 in the hospital. However, she did not do it. The Crime Branch found two mobile phones in possession of Lalit Patil admitted in the ward. A private person carrying a sack went to meet Lalit Patil when API Bhagwat was on duty.

She has been suspended for dereliction of duty and irresponsible behaviour. API Bhagwat also violated the provisions of the Maharashtra Civil Services Act. This maligned the image of the Pune Police.

API Bhagwat is not permitted to work in a private company or pursue a business during her suspension period. She will also have to seek permission of the Additional Police Commissioner (administration) and the Deputy Police Commissioner (headquarters) before leaving the headquarters.

API Bhagwat will have to report daily to the Reserved Police Inspector (Police Headquarters) during her suspension period. API Bhagwat will have to submit a certificate that she is neither employed in any private company nor pursuing any business. She will get the sustenance allowance after submission of the certificate, stated the order.
