Pune: Indian Army soldiers will hoist Tricolour at 15 forts in district

PUNE: The Southern Command has launched an initiative of unfurling the Tricolour in 76 forts in the country on the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. Jawans will hoist flags at Rohida, Hadsar, Jivdhan, Chavandgad, Shivneri, Bhorgiri, Purandar, Torna, Rajgad, Visapur, Lohgad, Sinhagad, Tikona, Korigad and Tung forts in Pune district.

Forts in Kolhapur district like Vishalgad, Rangna, Samangad, Mahipatgad and Panhala have been included in the list of forts. Forty nine forts including the Raigad fort are in the list of forts. The information was given by the officer of Adventure Cell of Southern Command AA Bhate.

Along with Raigad, Prabalgad fort located near Panvel, Mahuli fort in Shahapur in Thane district, Vishalgad, Rangna, Samangad, Mahipatgad and Panhala in Kolhapur district, Pandavgad, Vairatgad, Chandangad and Vandangad in Satara district, Daulatgad in Sambhaji Nagar district, Hatgad, Markande, Ravla, Javla, Dhodap, Ramshej, Rajdeher, Chandwad, Harihar, Brahmagiri, Gehegad, Bahula; Ahmed Nagar, Bitangad, Kaladgad, Bhairavgad, Ratangad, Vishramgad and Harishchandragad in Ahmed Nagar district are among the 49 forts.

In this special initiative of the Southern Command, some mountaineers and volunteers from the western part of the state will accompany the soldiers for providing help on August 15. This initiative of the Indian Army will be a feather in the cap of the forts. This initiative has made mountaineers and admirers of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj very proud.
