PUNE: The construction department of the PMC has continued its action against illegal constructions of restaurants and cafes in Shivaji Nagar area. On Tuesday, unauthorised sheds in the side and front margins of restaurants and cafes on Bhandarkar Road and Kamala Nehru Park area were removed and freed an area of 3,000 sq feet.
Action was taken against Hotel Skol on Bhandarkar Road and Bharat Bazar, Café Story Al Iran and Café Street Bean Coffee located opposite Kamala Nehru Park.
Sheds built with bamboo, tin and iron angles and a room built with tin were demolished. Deputy Engineer Sunil Kadam said action was taken under the guidance of Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde, himself, Branch Engineer Rahul Rasale, Junior Engineer Samir Gadhai and services of 10 daily labourers were used. The police provided security cover during the drive.
