Pune: IFUWA International Conference Inaugurated; University Womens discussed on ‘Sustainable Future’

Pune: Two days International Conference of Indian Federation of University Women’s Association (IFUWA) on the theme ‘Working Together for a Sustainable Future’ is inaugurated on 1st March 2024 at the venue of University Women’s Association Gokhale Nagar, Pune. Conference inaugurated in presence of Dr. Ranjana Banerjee (President, IFUWA), Environmentalist Dr. Vandana Shiva, Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo (Vice Chancellor, SNDT University, Mumbai) and industrialist Meher Padamji.

Dr. Ujwala Shinde, (President, UWA, Pune), Kalyani Bondre (Secretary, UWA, Pune), Advocate Prema Kulkarni (Treasurer, UWA, Pune), Neelam Jagdale (Associate Representative)-The working committee members of this conference including representatives from SAARC countries were present.

Conference inaugurated at 10am, on 1st March 2024. Presentations on ‘Different aspects of Sustainability’ were planned at 12pm,where Dr. Vandana Shiva, Ms. Nimalka Fernando, Meher Pudumjee spoke. Panelists from SAARC Countries participated in a session planned at 2.30pm. Sushil Bhardwaj Lifetime Achievement Award given at 4.15pm and a book on ‘Diet Sustainability with Millets’ written by Gayatri Vatsalayas was released. Cultural programwas organized at 7pm in presence of Guru Ramdas Palsule.

On 2nd March, discussion on sustainability by the ‘UWAsia’ members is planned where speakers from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Japan, Thailand, Hongkong will participate physically and over video presentation at 10.30am.Presentations of affiliates of IFUWA will also take place at 2.30pm.
