Pune: Hadapsar Police Booked Mundhwa Resident Under POCSO in Alleged Molestation of Minor Girl in Manjari

Pune: In the Manjari area of Hadapsar, a disgraceful incident of molesting a minor girl took place on January 5. In this regard, the victim girl filed a police complaint. Accordingly, police booked the prime accused in a case under the POCSO Act.

In this regard, a 16-year-old girl living in Manjari filed a complaint against Niraj Hanumanprasad Gupta at Hadapsar police station on Sunday, January 7. Gupta is a resident of Keshavnagar, Mundhwa. Prima facie reports confirm that the accused and the victim girl have been acquainted with each other since earlier.

The plaintiff mentioned that for the last few days, the accused had been following her. However, on Friday, January 5, at around 8 p.m., when she was passing from the Z corner of Manjari, the accused suddenly came from behind and asked her to sit on his bike.

When the girl refused to sit on his bike, he got out of it and intimately held her hand. Appallingly, he further tried to get intimate with her, hugging her forcefully on the public street. It has also been mentioned in the complaint that on the next day, when the victim was walking on the road, the accused again stalked and followed her.

Based on the complaint filed by the victim girl, Hadapsar police booked the accused under 354d of the Indian Penal Code and POCSO Acts 8 and 12. The police are further investigating the case.
