Pune: Get to know the consecration timings of Ganesh idols of revered Ganpati mandals

PUNE: Everyone’s favourite deity, Lord Ganesh, is going to arrive in our homes on September 19, 2023 and only a few hours remain for the auspicious occasion. Hectic efforts are being made at Ganesh mandals and at homes for welcoming the deity. The Ganpati idol of fifth revered Ganpati, Kesariwada Ganpati, arrived at the mandal on August 19 as per the Tilak almanac.
The consecration of the other revered Ganpati idols will take place by 1.45 pm.

The first revered Kasba Ganpati mandal is celebrating 131st year of the festival. Every year, different replicas are made and kept in the pandal. This year, the replica is based on the Ganesh temple at Morgaon. The Ganesh idol will be kept in a silver palanquin. The idol has been sculpted by Abhijit Dhondefale and the procession will travel via KEM Hospital, Apollo Theatre and Phadke Houd Chowk. The Prabhat Brass Band has participated in the procession since 80 years and they will be accompanied by Sangharsh and Shriram dhol tasha troupes. The consecration of Ganesh idol will be done at 11.37 am by the pontiff of Athargimath, Anna Maharaj. A gold studded crown will be presented to the deity this year.

This is the 131st year of Shri Tambdi Jogeshwari Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. The procession will begin in the traditional manner at 9.30 am near Mandar Lodge on NC Kelkar Road in Narayan Peth. It will proceed via Kunte Chowk, Nagarkar Talim, Appa Balwant Chowk to the pandal. New Gandharva Brass Band, Shivmudra dhol tasha troupe, Vishnunad troupe will take part in the procession. The Ganesh idol will be consecrated at 11.50 am by Shri Bhushan Maharudra Swami Maharaj, Sajjangad, Satara (11th descendent of Shri Samarth family). A Ganesh temple will be set up at the pandal and five ceremonial vehicles will be made for the deity.

The third revered Guruji Talim Mandal is entering the 137th year this year. Against this background, a replica of Balaji temple has been made. The procession of the Ganesh idol will proceed via Guruji Talim temple, Ganpati Chowk, Limraj Maharaj Chowk, Appa Balwant Chowk, Jogeshwari Chowk, Budhwar Chowk, Belbaug Chowk. Three dhol tasha troupes i.e. Abhedya, Guruji Pratishsthan and Shivpratap will take part in the procession. The consecration of Ganesh idol will be done by businessman Punit Balan and Janhavi Punit Balan at 1.45 pm. Devotees will be given a laddu as prasad as per the custom at the Tirupati Balaji temple.

The procession of the fourth revered Tulshibaug Ganpati Mandal will begin in a palanquin at 10 am from Ram temple. It will proceed via Babu Genu Chowk, Jilbya Maruti Chowk, Shanipar Chowk, Ganpati Chowk. The consecration of the idol will be done by President of Pune Merchants Chamber Rajendra Batia and businessman Rajesh Shah at 11.30. A replica of the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain will be set up. Gold teeth and sacred thread made of gold will be offered to the deity.

The Kesariwada Ganeshotsav has been celebrated as per the Tilak alamanac so far. The deity arrived at Kesariwada accompanied by dhol tasha troupe on August 20, 2023. The arrival of Lord Ganesh is happening on September 19 as per other almanacs. But regular pujas and other programmes are happening since August 20. The idol will be immersed on September 28.
